Stara joined Warren Healy after spending ten years as an Assistant District Attorney at the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.  During her time at the District Attorney’s office, she served as a chief prosecutor in a variety of misdemeanor courts, including those specializing in family violence cases. Stara was then promoted to the felony trial division.  Stara was assigned to several different felony trial courts, trying cases from low level drug offenses all the way up to capital murder and sexual assault.  She also spent 3 years of her career as a specialized family violence prosecutor.  In addition, she spent years prosecuting cases in the specialized crime division, which include various fraud and theft offenses.  She prosecuted several large scale employee theft cases, as well as fraud cases involving the Texas Workforce Commission and various other government entities. During this time, she drafted indictments and presented cases to the grand jury. Stara was also assigned to a unit designed to prosecute and rehabilitate offenders with extensive criminal histories involving state jail felonies.  Over the course of her career as a prosecutor, Stara has tried well over 100 jury trials and trials before the court, and represented the state in bond hearings, probation revocation hearings and open pleas to the court.  She has tried multiple murder and capital murder cases to juries.

Since leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Stara has dedicated her career to applying the skills acquired as a prosecutor to help her clients navigate this difficult time in their lives.

Stara was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2005.  She graduated from Baylor University in 2002, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  She obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in 2005.
