STEPHANIE MARTIN
With a legal career that spans almost two decades, Stephanie is, first and foremost, a trial attorney. She served fifteen years as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County where she tried all kinds of criminal cases including, but not limited to, murder, aggravated offenses, sexual assault, child sexual assault, family violence offenses, drug offenses, driving while intoxicated and fraud. She has extensive experience in white collar crimes, including multi-million dollar embezzlement, Ponzi schemes, Texas Workforce Commission unemployment fraud, money laundering, conspiracy and elder abuse. While at the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office Stephanie spent 10 plus years in the Specialized Crime Division, which lead to her being promoted to Chief of the Elder Abuse Unit. In addition to the Elder Abuse Unit, she was also a chief in several other felony courts and divisions as well. Based on her experience Stephanie has been asked to speak at both regional and national conferences related to elder abuse, financial crimes, and crimes against women to train law enforcement, prosecutors, and judges on the subject matter.
Stephanie was a member of the prosecution teams for the nationally noted Swiss Avenue case against Mark McCay, an elder abuse case, as well as the infamous Dr. Death case against Dr. Christopher Duntsch, for injury to an elderly individual. You can hear more on the case against Christopher Duntsch by listening to the Podcast Dr. Death, by Wondery. Stephanie is quoted in episode 6.
A west Texas native, Stephanie graduated cum laude from Angelo State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1998. She obtained her juris doctorate in 2001 from Texas Tech University School of Law. While at Tech Stephanie was an active member of the Board of Barristers, including being named Board Member of the Year in 2001. Stephanie was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 2001.
Stephanie is a proud mother of a son and daughter, and when she is not zealously advocating for her clients, she spends her other time watching her children play sports including football, basketball, soccer, and track.
